For the following assignment, we were told to select 5 emotions from a list of many, and then were told that we would have to go out and take pictures based on those 5 emotions chosen. Presented below are those images:
Calmness
This photo exhibits the emotion “calmness.” In it, Donovan is the center of attention as the rest of the class circles around him for up close pictures. I decided to use this photo because of the very serene expression on his face, despite there being numerous cameras surrounding him.
Fear
The straightening iron: a fear too many know, regardless of whether you’re a man or woman.
Amusement
Again, we have Donovan! During this same period when we were instructed to get closer, everyone started chuckling at the uncomfort of it all. As a result of the smile and general happy expression on his face, I’ve decided to use it for the “amusement” emotion.
Admiration
Above is a photo of my dog, Marley. Admiration is defined as the action of regarding someone as “impressive or worthy of respect.” Though our pets do look up to us quite literally, they also look up to us because we are there providers and caretakers, and spending time with us brings them as much joy as it brings us. With the way Marley is looking up at me with wide, hopeful eyes, I felt this image was one that nicely exhibited this emotion through something other than a person.
Boredom
Boredom. Depicted in this photo is one of my friends who at the time, was working on an assignment for one of her classes. Capturing this photo was easy: her face of pure disinterest in regards to what she was doing perfectly embodies how most college students feel about work.
